Police in Elizabeth are attempting to determine the motive behind a shots fired incident that occurred overnight in the city.
It happened at approximately 9:15 p.m. in the 400 block of Jefferson Avenue where police responded to reports of shots fired according to reports.
Units arriving at the scene began to canvas for evidence and possible victims, but a search of the area had officers locate a vehicle struck by gunfire, but no victims were found according to reports.
Authorities are investigating if a nearby stabbing and the shots fired incident that occurred around the same time are connected.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
