Newark Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred just before midnight near the intersection of Webster Street and Crane Street.
The area became a focus of law enforcement after a ShotSpotter device detected several rounds being fired.
Upon arrival, officers located multiple shell casings at the scene, confirming the gunfire reported by the ShotSpotter.
Newark's Shooting Response Team was immediately notified and assisted in the investigation. Despite a thorough canvas of the area, no victims were found, suggesting that there were no injuries despite the gunfire.
Authorities report that the suspect responsible for the shooting fled the scene before police arrived.
No arrests have been made, and the search for the suspect continues.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding gun violence in the area, and Newark Police are asking anyone with information to come forward to assist with the investigation.
