Paterson Fire officials are investigating a fire that gutted two homes on a block in the city Saturday.
The early morning fire occurred in two homes at 60-62 Haledon Avenue at approximately 2 a.m. where firefighters arrived to find heavy fire racing through a two and a half story wood-framed home then spread to an adjacent structure.
According to fire officials, it took crews just over an hour to bring the fire under control.
Officials say a search of both structures indicated no trapped on injured occupants and about a dozen residents were displaced.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
