Two people died at the scene of a violent car crash in Passaic County Friday night.
According to a preliminary investigation, at approximately 10:40 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of 154 Pompton Turnpike to investigate reports of a crash with injuries.
Upon arrival, police found at least two vehicles involved in a wreck with multiple victims trapped inside cars at that location.
As many as six victims were transported to area hospitals, but officials have confirmed two of the victims have died.
The cause of the collision was not determined and the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office arrived on the scene and assisted in the investigation.
The identity of the victims has not been released at this time.
