Late Friday night, authorities in Newark responded to a serious crash that resulted in at least one person sustaining severe injuries.
The incident happened shortly before 11:55 p.m. in the 200 block of 1st Street, between 7th Avenue West and 2nd Street.
Emergency responders rapidly arrived at the scene to find two vehicles severely damaged from the collision.
Inside one of the vehicles was an injured occupant who required immediate medical attention.
Rescue efforts were launched to extricate the victim from the wreckage, after which they were transported to University Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, police officers commenced their investigation into the crash. They ordered the vehicles removed from the scene and began compiling a report outlining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The cause of the crash remains undetermined, and authorities are actively working to piece together the events leading up to it.
