Orange Police Investigate Armed Robbery of Newark Resident on Ridge Street

Orange police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Monday afternoon on Ridge Street.

Officers were dispatched around 3:45 p.m. to 32 Ridge St. after receiving reports of a robbery. 

Upon arrival, they were flagged down near 52 Ridge St. by the victim, a Hispanic male from Newark.  

The victim told police he was placing equipment into the driver’s side of his van when an unknown individual reached into his back pocket and stole his wallet. 

When he attempted to retrieve it, the suspect lifted his shirt, revealing a green pistol.  

The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 5’6” tall, between 25 and 30 years old, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. 

He was last seen fleeing north on Ridge Street toward White Street.  

The victim was not injured and declined medical attention. His wallet contained identification, a Chase bank card, and both personal and business Bank of America cards.  

Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage from cameras in the area as they work to identify the suspect.
