An Open Public Record Act request to The Essex County Prosecutor's Office for a list of homicide investigations for all municipalities in the county for 2019 was delivered to RLS Media.
The record shows an escalation in murders in Irvington Township and a considerable drop in homicides that were reported by the City of Newark. According to an OPRA report requested by our staff, in 2017 and 2018, there were no homicide investigations on file for Irvington Township.
