One Person Killed, Four Others Injured in Sayreville Crash

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief John Zebrowski of the Sayreville Police Department said police are investigating a fatal collision in which one person was killed and four others were injured in a crash on Raritan Street in Sayreville.

 

Officials said the identity of the deceased driver is being withheld until notification has been made to his family.  

According to authorities, the victim was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

 

The four passengers, two adults and two children were also taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center in New Brunswick for their injuries, and are in stable condition.

 

Officials said the driver of the other vehicle, a 17-year old teenager from Sayreville, was taken to Raritan Bay Medical Center. The teenager’s identity is being withheld because of his age. At this time no charges have been filed in the crash.

 

The crash is being investigated by Patrolman David Sivilli of the Sayreville Police Department and Detective Donald Heck of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

 

The preliminary investigation has determined that at 2:23 pm the 17-year old who was driving a Dodge Ram pickup, drove into the oncoming lane of traffic and crashed into a Hyundai SUV.

 

The investigation is active and is continuing.
