Police in Newark are investigating a collision that injured one person on a highway in the city Monday afternoon.
According to police, the crash happened at approximately 3:45 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Route 1&9 near the airport exit.
Police say firefighters used the ”Jaws of Life” to extricate an occupant of a car that was rear-ended by another vehicle.
The injured was transported to University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
