Wayne emergency responders rushed to the scene of a crash that resulted in injuries in a section of the city Thursday.
The early morning collision happened just before 5:25 a.m. at 1275 Route 23 South.
According to a preliminary investigation, police say, it appeared that the driver of the vehicle lost control in the southbound lanes of Route 23, left the roadway and slammed into the Perfect Pawn Shop, which is in a small shopping center.
Firefighters and rescue crews extricated one occupant who was trapped in the car for about 35 minutes. The victim was transported to the hospital in serious but stable condition.
Police say there was no one inside the store during their search of the establishment.
The Wayne Police Department is investigating the official cause of the crash.
