Police detained one person during a shooting investigation that occurred Friday night in Paterson, New Jersey. The Passaic County Prosecutor is now leading the investigation.
Police responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Rosa Parks Boulevard and Fulton Street at around 9:17 p.m.Upon arrival, officers found an unidentified individual suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
The officers provided immediate assistance to control the victim until EMS arrived on the scene.
The victim was later transported to St. Joseph'Joseph'sl Center for treatment and is expected to recover.
As police canvassed the surrounding area, they discovered shell casings near the intersection of Carroll Street and 12th Avenue.
The motive for the shooting remains under active investigation, and no other injuries have been reported.The investigation is ongoing and authorities are continuing to gather evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
