The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office has taken over the investigation into a shooting that injured several victims at a location in Jersey City.
According to police, the early morning shooting happened at approximately midnight in the 100 block of Union Street.
Police said three males armed with guns arrived in the neighborhood and began firing multiple rounds at victims at that location.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found as many as five victims stuck by bullets with the most seriously injured person suffering a bullet wound in the head.
Police say all of the victims were transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where one of the injured was pronounced dead a short time later.
The Jersey City Cease-Fire unit were notified and responded to the scene.
