New Jersey State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Sunday morning on Interstate 80 in Morris County.
Troopers responded to reports of a collision just before 3 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-80 near Exit 35 in Rockaway just before 3 a.m.
Upon arrival, they discovered a crash scene involving two victims.
One individual was transported to a nearby hospital and is expected to survive, while the second victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities temporarily closed all westbound lanes as they conducted an investigation into the cause of the crash.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released. The investigation remains ongoing.
