Jersey City Police took a man into custody and charged him with possessing a loaded weapon on Thursday night.
Police were informed of a person with a gun in the area of Bergen and Gifford avenues shortly before 11 p.m.
Officers investigating the report found a person fitting the description who fled from cops on foot during the investigation.
Police caught the suspect in the vicinity of Emory and Bergen avenues and then found the gun nearby.
The suspect was apprehended without further incident.
