Police took a male suspect into custody and charged him with an attempted burglary at a commercial establishment in Newark's North Ward.
According to a preliminary investigation, police were called to AMG Auto Sports Car Dealership to investigate reports of a burglary in progress just before 3 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers interrupted two suspects attempting to break into the establishment.
When officers tried to arrest one of the suspects, he sprinted away on foot and led police on a brief pursuit before being taken into custody a short distance away.
Police say a second suspect fled the scene in a dark-colored BMW and was last seen on I-280 near exit 13, where officers broke the chase.
