Authorities released the identity of a 17-year-old Plainfield teen that went missing Tuesday evening after he drowned off Sandy Hook, officials said today.
Sarmad Rizvi of Plainfield vanished in the ocean between areas C and D which officials said is not guarded by life guards.
Rizvi was at the beach with friends and family sometime after 5 p.m., when they alerted lifeguards in the area that they could not see Rizvi.
Rizvi was found and transported Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch.
He was pronounced dead today shortly before 3 a.m.
