Police in Newark swiftly captured a suspect wanted for an attempt to rob a business in the city's Ironbound section Wednesday evening.
At approximately 5:10 p.m., police were dispatched to 162 Adams Street to investigate reports of an armed robbery in progress.
Upon arrival at the Vieira's Jewelry store, police identified the arrested an assailant wanted for the attempted robbery.
A weapon was recovered at the scene, and the suspect was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the incident.
The investigation remains active.
