Two people including a police officer were transported to the hospital after a late evening car crash in Newark.
The accident happened shortly before 9 p.m. near the intersection of University Avenue and Bank Street in the city's downtown where emergency responders arrived at the scene to find an Essex County College police vehicle and another car had collided at that location.
The victims were taken to the hospital where they suffered non-life threatening injuries according to preliminary reports.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
