Officer Injured in Hamilton Robbery; 21-Year-Old Woman Arrested

Hamilton Township (Mercer)

Hamilton, NJ -- According to police, at approximately 1:00 pm on Saturday, officers responded to the report of a robbery of the Walmart Supercenter at 1750 Nottingham Way, in which the suspect had reportedly run over a Loss Prevention Officer.

Officials say Hamilton Police Officers caught up with the suspect in the City of Trenton and performed a motor vehicle stop. During the stop, the suspect, identified as 21-year-old female Courtney Lynn Rumery of Hamilton Township, sped away with a Hamilton Police Officer holding on to the suspect’s vehicle in fear for his life.

After failing to shake the Hamilton Officer from her vehicle, Courtney Lynn crashed the car and fled from the scene on foot only to be chased down by responding Trenton Police Officers and taken into custody police officials said.

The Hamilton Police Officer, having been thrown from the exterior of the vehicle, was reported to have serious but non-life-threatening injuries while the Walmart Loss Prevention Officer was said to have suffered minor injuries and was treated and released.

Police charged Ms. Courtney Lynn Rumery with robbery in Hamilton Township in addition to being charged in the City of Trenton with aggravated assault on a police officer.

The Hamilton Police Division would like to thank the Trenton Police Department for their assistance in this matter.

Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
