Ocean County authorities announced that on Tuesday, June 27, Taron Thomas, 33, of Ocean View, pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree sexual assault on a minor.
According to officials, his plea calls for a sentence of 10 years of New Jersey State Prison, with eighty-five percent to be served before parole eligibility, followed by registration pursuant to Megan’s Law and parole supervision for life.
Authorities say Thomas admitted during his plea colloquy that in April of 2021, he committed an act of sexual penetration on his 14-year-old niece at the victim’s Galloway Township home.
This case was investigated by the Galloway Township Police Department.
Sentencing is scheduled for September 19, pending an evaluation at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center.
