Oakland Woman Arrested for Alleged Abuse of Minor

Authorities have announced the arrest of a 36-year-old Oakland resident, Cecilia Murillo Viera, following an investigation into allegations of abuse involving a minor.

The investigation was led by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck, in collaboration with the Oakland Police Department.

The case began on Sunday, December 1, 2024, when the Oakland Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit with concerns about possible abuse.

Following a thorough investigation, it was determined that Murillo Viera had physically abused a juvenile under the age of sixteen in Oakland, New Jersey.

As a result, Murillo Viera was taken into custody and charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and simple assault.

She is currently being held at the Bergen County Jail and is awaiting her initial court appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack.

Authorities have not disclosed further details about the case, citing the sensitive nature of incidents involving minors.
