Two men suspected of removing FedEx packages from a Clark home were apprehended after leading police on a car chase yesterday.
Police responded to a report of two Hispanic males who fled in a black BMW SUV after removing packages from the front steps of a Thomas Drive home.
Responding officers spotted the SUV traveling east on Raritan Road but as they attempted to stop the vehicle, it took off at a high rate of speed.
The chase came to a halt after a minor motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Central Avenue. The passenger, Baldwin Acevedo-Alburquerque, 26, of the Bronx, was taken into custody.
However, the driver, Raul Gil-Rodriguez, 33, of the Bronx, took off on foot but only made it to the Barnes & Noble parking lot where he was taken into custody.
Gil-Rodriguez was charged with eluding and hindering. He was released after posting bail of $52,500.
Acevedo-Alburquerque was charged with eluding and hindering. He was released after posting $50,000 bail.
The incident remains under investigation.
