Residents in Newark are experiencing a slightly cooler and cloudier Sunday morning compared to yesterday. Today's temperatures are expected to be around 7 degrees cooler.
As of 5:30 a.m., the temperature stood at a comfortable 73 degrees.
While the day might lack sunshine, the air will remain humid and "soupy," setting the stage for a change in weather after 5 p.m.
The National Weather Service predicts that heavy rain and some sunshine will move in later in the day.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly after 5 p.m., with a 60% chance of precipitation. Today's high is expected to be near 86 degrees, with a southwest wind of 5 to 8 mph.
Tonight, NWS forecasters said the showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue mainly before 8 p.m. The skies will then clear up gradually, with the overnight low around 70 degrees.
Residents are encouraged to enjoy their day but stay prepared for the evening's wet weather.
