NWS: Newark, North Jersey Wakes Up to Heavy Rain, Moderate Localized Flooding

Meteorologists for The National Weather Service said residents in Newark and northern New Jersey are being advised to prepare for heavy rainfall and high winds to start their say, especially if they are venturing out pre-dawn.

The National Weather Service forecasters have warned of heavy rain and wind gusts up to 18 mph in some areas, with a chance of precipitation at 100%.

According to the weather data, the humidity is currently at 86%, and the barometer reads 29.95. The heavy rain is expected to begin around 4 a.m. and continue throughout the day on Saturday.

The high temperature is predicted to be near 55 degrees Fahrenheit, with an east wind of 15 to 18 mph.

NWS forecasters said Newark and the surrounding areas could see between three-quarters and one inch of rain by the end of the day on Saturday.

The rain is expected to continue into Saturday night, with areas of drizzle and a chance of more rain after 3 a.m.

Areas of fog are also expected after 9 p.m. The temperature will remain steady at around 54 degrees Fahrenheit.

Officials advised residents to prepare for the heavy rainfall by securing loose outdoor items and making sure gutters and drainage systems are clear. If you are driving, officials said you should also keep a safe distance from other vehicles to avoid accidents.

As the heavy rain and winds approach, residents need to stay informed by monitoring weather reports and following any instructions or advisories from local authorities.
