NWS: Newark, North Jersey Region Thaws Out After Freezing Temperatures

Residents in Newark and the North Jersey region are experiencing a welcome reprieve from the recent cold snap. Temperatures have risen, providing a much-needed thaw after several frigid days.

You will still need your winter gear this morning but you will be able to shed the layers this afternoon. 

This morning, the area will wake up to temperatures comfortably above freezing, a noticeable improvement from yesterday's chill.

The National Weather Service forecasts a sunny day ahead, with highs reaching near 48 degrees.AdThough early wind chill values might linger between 25 and 35, the day is expected to get progressively warmer. A gentle southwest wind blowing at 5 to 7 mph will make the day feel milder.

NWS meteorologists say tonight, the region can expect partly cloudy skies with lows around 36 degrees.

The southwest wind will continue to blow at a mild pace of 5 to 7 mph. The current humidity stands at 54%, with a steady barometer reading of 30.10 inches.

The Newark and North Jersey Region is expected to experience rain Friday evening into Saturday.
