Residents of Newark and the surrounding North Jersey area are waking up to a warm Wednesday, with early temperatures already reaching 75 degrees.As the day progresses, locals can expect a mix of sun and clouds, with temperatures soaring into the upper 80s.
However, with high humidity, it will feel closer to 95 degrees.
The National Weather Service forecasts a partly sunny day with a high near 94 degrees. Heat index values could climb as high as 97.
There's also a 30 percent chance of showers later in the afternoon, after 5 pm. Winds from the southwest will blow at 8 to 10 mph, with gusts potentially reaching up to 21 mph.
With the return of such oppressive heat, air conditioners will be essential for staying cool.
