Newark and the surrounding regions can expect a day with mixed weather conditions.

According to The National Weather Service, with a humidity of 79% and a gentle northeast wind blowing at three mph, the atmosphere is ripe for a slight chance of showers between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

This could be followed by a higher chance of showers and even thunderstorms after 2 p.m.

NWS forecasters say there might be some patchy fog early in the morning, which is expected to dissipate before 8 a.m.

Despite the potential for showers, the day will be mostly cloudy, with temperatures reaching a high near 78. The northeast wind is expected to blow at 6 to 8 mph.

The likelihood of precipitation stands at 30%, indicating the possibility of intermittent rain throughout the day.

While spotty showers are anticipated in the afternoon, the National Weather Service (NWS) is also keeping an eye on Tropical Storm Idalia. Although the storm is gaining strength in the tropics, current projections do not suggest any direct impact on our  Newark/North Jersey region.
