Newark Police aviation unit (NPD-1) assisted in the arrest of several males who occupied a vehicle that was carjacked in Elizabeth Saturday evening.
The incident originated around 7:35 p.m. near 583 Morris Avenue in Elizabeth.
A woman was approached by several armed males who dragged her from the Mercedes Benz and then sped away.
Newark South Ward units patrolling the area came across that vehicle near the intersection of Meeker Avenue and Empire Street and attempted to pull the driver over.
According to preliminary reports, the driver led officers on a pursuit that touched off in parts of Newark's South Ward, with the suspect losing ground units.
NPD-1, joining the chase, never lost contact with the vehicle and followed the suspect to Bramhall Avenue, where the driver parked the car under a tree and then bailed out.
Several Jersey City units who flooded the area after getting precise location points from NPD-1, apprehended about three suspects, and confiscated a weapon from the vehicle.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
