NJ Transit officials said Northeast Corridor train 7844, en route from Trenton and bound for Penn Station, New York, struck and tragically killed an adult female pedestrian near the North Elizabeth station today.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:00 p.m., as the train, which had departed Trenton at 2:58 p.m. and was scheduled to reach Penn Station, New York, at 4:33 p.m., was in transit.
Officials said there were no reported injuries among the passengers or crew on board.
Train traffic in the area has been significantly affected, with trains now moving through the vicinity at restricted speed.
