Police in Newark are investigating a pedestrian strike that resulted in a person suffering injuries at a location in the North Ward Tuesday night. 
Around 6:45 p.m., police and emergency medical services rushed to the intersection of Elwood Avenue and Mt. Prospect Avenue following reports of an injured individual.
Upon their arrival, responders discovered a person lying on the ground, having been struck by a car.
Initial observations indicated the victim sustained a serious head injury, evident from bleeding, necessitating immediate medical attention.
The injured pedestrian was promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
