North Plainfield Man Charged with Distributing Explicit Materials Involving Minors

Authorities in Somerset County announced the arrest of George Wohar, Jr., age 62, North Plainfield, in relation to the distribution of Explicit Materials Involving Minors.

Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald stated that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) notified the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office of numerous tips involving Explicit Materials Involving Minors associated with various electronic service providers.

Officials stated an investigation was initiated by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations/Computer Crimes Unit.

The investigation confirmed that the various electronic service providers containing these numerous Explicit Materials Involving Minors were all associated with George Wohar, Jr., officials said. 

According to officials, on Tuesday, June 25, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office detectives, along with officers from the North Plainfield Police Department, executed a Somerset County Superior Court-ordered search warrant at Wohar Jr.’s residence.

As a result of the search, officials say that electronic devices, including phones and tablets, were seized from the residence for further computer forensic examination. 

A search of these devices revealed multiple images and files of Explicit Materials Involving Minors, authorities say. 

Officials said that on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, Defendant Wohar Jr. was arrested without incident at his residence in North Plainfield. Defendant Wohar Jr. was charged with 2nd-degree Distribution of Explicit Materials Involving Minors and/or Abuse of a Minor and 3rd Degree Possession of Explicit Materials Involving Minors and/or Abuse of a Minor.

Defendant Wohar Jr. was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing in this matter, officials stated.
