The Newark and Northern New Jersey region is on alert as another significant rain system is set to sweep through the area, potentially bringing several inches of rain and even snow over the weekend. This news comes at a time when area streams and rivers are already struggling under the weight of previous rainfall.
The region starts this morning with calm but very cold conditions. For most of Friday, the weather is expected to remain dry, with increasing clouds and a high near 47 degrees.
A calm wind will shift to the southeast in the afternoon, reaching speeds of 5 to 9 mph.
However, conditions are forecasted to deteriorate tonight. Heavy rain is anticipated to begin after 10 p.m., with low temperatures around 44 degrees.
The situation will be further aggravated by breezy conditions, as southeast winds of 11 to 16 mph are expected to intensify to 19 to 24 mph after midnight.Wind gusts could reach as high as 41 mph. The chance of precipitation is pegged at 100%, with new precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Residents are urged to prepare for another storm poised to hit North Jersey, which could exacerbate the already overburdened Passaic River.
This impending weather event highlights the need for caution and preparedness among the communities in the affected areas.
