A North Brunswick man driving a stolen vehicle with four other occupants - including two small children - was arrested after he crashed into several parked vehicle as he attempted to flee from police.
According to police, on Jan. 7th, at approximately 3 p.m., Sergeant Christopher Fortunka and Detective Troy Alston of the Narcotics Bureau were patrolling in the 1100 Block of South Avenue when they observed a Green 2003 Acura bearing New Jersey registration **G40-GFG** traveling east on South Avenue.
The Detectives followed the vehicle -which had recently been reported stolen out of North Plainfield- until it began pulling into the Delta gas station located on South Avenue at Belvidere Avenue.
As police activated their emergency lights and sirens, the driver later identified as **Khalil Harris, 20, from North Brunswick,** fled in the vehicle, ultimately crashing into several parked cars.
Harris then led police on a brief foot pursuit but was quickly apprehended by Sergeant Fortunka and Detective Alston with assistance from other Narcotics Detectives police said.
Four other occupants - including two children, ages one and two years old - were located within the vehicle unharmed police said.
Police said Harris was arrested and charged with aggravated assault (4th degree), eluding police (2nd degree), resisting arrest (4th degree), criminal mischief (4th degree, 5 counts), criminal mischief (3rd degree), endangering the welfare of a child (3rd degree, 3 counts) and receiving stolen property (3rd degree).
