Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the North Bergen Police Department are investigating a collision in which the operator of a motorcycle was fatally struck by a vehicle on Friday, May 5. The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene.
At approximately 9:00 p.m., Prosecutor Suarez said the North Bergen Police Department was notified of a motorcycle lying in the road in the area of Granton and Liberty avenues in North Bergen with no apparent operator.
During the preliminary investigation, responding police officers located an injured male in the area of 76th Street, several blocks from the motorcycle.
According to Prosecutor Suarez, the male – later identified as Mr. Joshua Huayamave, 23, of North Bergen – was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Palisades Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:40 p.m.
The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the North Bergen Police Department are actively investigating this case.
