Police in North Arlington swiftly apprehended a suspect wanted for a purse snatching that occurred on Wednesday afternoon.
According to preliminary reports, police patrolling near a bank in the 400 block of Ridge Road, just before 8:30 p.m., were informed that a suspect snatched a woman's purse then ran from the scene.
Officers canvassing the area found a suspect that fit description of the man wanted for the crime.
When officers attempted to question the suspect, he reportedly ran from the scene initiating a foot pursuit. Police were able to capture the suspect a short distance away.
Police believe that the suspect was accompanied by at least one other person who fled the scene in a Silvery Mercury with license plate numbers that register to an address in Newark according to reports.
There were no physical injuries reported.
