Newark Police detained the driver of a car that reportedly struck a pedestrian at a location in the city's North Ward the drove away from the scene.
According to police, the incident happened in the vicinity of 2nd Avenue and Broadway at approximately 3:40 p.m.
Police say emergency responders found the victim suffering injuries after the car struck them.
Officers located the car in the 500 block of Summer Avenue, where they took the driver into headquarters for questioning, according to police.
The incident remains under investigation.
