Firefighters in Kearny are looking into the official cause of a fire that ignited inside a house in the city on Tuesday night.
Fire broke out at 19 Stewart Avenue at approximately 8:40 p.m. sending firefighters to the scene where they observed a smoke coming from the first floor of a wood-framed house at that location.
Crews were able to knock down much of the flames swiftly but signaled a second alarm as fired continued inside the walls of the house.
A search of the house for trapped and injured occupants came back negative.
The investigation remains active.
