Woodbridge Township residents are being encouraged to explore available utility assistance programs as New Jersey’s Winter Termination Program—a seasonal safeguard that prevents eligible customers from having their electric, gas, and water services disconnected—comes to an end on Saturday, March 15.
To help residents navigate cost-saving options, state and local officials and utility providers serving Woodbridge, are inviting area senior citizens to an informational event about available financial aid and energy efficiency programs.
The free event, scheduled for Thursday, March 13, will occur at the Maple Tree Senior Center in Avenel.
Representatives from PSE&G, Elizabethtown Gas, and Middlesex Water will be on hand to provide insights into their respective assistance programs.
Additionally, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities and the New Jersey Utilities Association (NJUA) will be present to share guidance on statewide energy relief initiatives.
Mayor John McCormac emphasized the importance of this outreach effort, especially as warmer months approach and electricity and water usage typically increase.
"We are proud to host this valuable event as our community prepares for the upcoming seasons when utility costs often rise," said McCormac.
"Many of our senior residents live on fixed incomes, making it crucial for them to be aware of available assistance programs. I commend the utilities for proactively organizing this educational session and encourage our seniors to attend, gather useful information, and adopt energy-efficient practices."
