NJIT Offers $10K Reward for Information Leading to Prosecution of Suspects Involved in Fatal Shooting of Student; Robbery is Possible Motive

College officials at The New Jersey Institute of Technology has issued a statement and $10K reward for information leading to the successful prosecution for the suspects wanted for the fatal shooting of a man they are calling their student.

This is a an official statement issued to students and staff of the college a short time ago:

"I am saddened to inform you that the student shot early this morning during a robbery has died. This is a tragic time for the student's family, friends and the entire NJIT campus and we extend our thoughts and prayers to all affected.

While the investigation is ongoing, we have been notified that police believe the robbery took place at the TKE house, 317 MLK Blvd, at about 3:30 a.m. this morning. There is no eminent threat to NJIT’s campus at this time and this tragedy is being investigated by the Essex County prosecutor’s office, Newark and NJIT police.

Details will be forthcoming regarding services for the slain student.

NJIT is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the successful prosecution of the individual or individuals who shot and killed our student.

The identity of the man has not been released at this time.
