NJ Youth Worker Charged with Supplying Contraband to Detained Juvenile Residents

Authorities in Atlantic County announced that on Thursday, May 16, Harborfields Youth Worker Tyrell Jones, 33, from Atlantic City, was charged.AdOfficials said the charges included Second-Degree Official Misconduct and Second-Degree knowingly providing an electronic communication device to a person confined in a County Juvenile Detention Facility.

In 2023, officials stated that the Juvenile Justice Commission provided information to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office concerning Jones supplying contraband to detained juvenile residents.

During the investigation, Jones was found to have provided detained Harborfields juvenile residents access to his personal cell phone, a contraband device, officials say. 

Authorities say this case was investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Professional Standards and Accountability Unit.
