NJ Woman Arrested for Insurance Fraud

Authorities in Passaic County announced the arrest of Ms. Christie Reyes, 37 years old, from Rockaway.AdPassaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes stated that Ms. Reyes was arrested on January 14 after an investigation conducted by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Insurance Fraud Unit.

Ms. Reyes is charged with one count of third-degree Insurance Fraud, County officials said. 

According to Passaic County officials, on January 11, 2024, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office received a report that Ms. Reyes provided false information in furtherance of obtaining insurance coverage for her motor vehicle.

The investigation revealed that Ms. Reyes attempted to receive reimbursement for a previous theft of the vehicle after she obtained coverage, County officials say. 

Passaic County authorities said the sentencing exposure to third-degree insurance fraud is three to five years in New Jersey State Prison.

 

Ms. Reyes was processed and released and will be appearing in the Central Judicial Processing Court within two weeks, Passaic County officials said. AdThe complaint is merely an accusation, and despite the accusation, defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
