There is a crash investigation underway with severe injuries reported on a highway in Middlesex County Saturday morning.
According to preliminary reports, the crash occurred in the southbound lanes of the NJ Turnpike near mile marker 86.6 in Edison at approximately 3:30 a.m.
NJ State Police arrived at the scene found the collision with one person ejected from a badly damaged car at that location.
The extent of the victim's injuries could only be confirmed as life-threatening as of 4:30 a.m.
Police closed the inner Turnpike lanes for the crash investigation as they looked into the cause of the collision.
