Authorities from the NJ State Police are investigating a crash that killed two people on the NJ Turnpike in Newark early Friday evening.
According to a statement released by police, the multi-vehicle crash happened at milepost 104.4, in Newark just before 4:45 p.m. sending police to the scene where they found the truck overturned.
Police say multiple people were injured when a tractor-trailer flipped over in the highway's southbound lanes just outside of Newark Liberty International Airport ultimately closing the outer roadway.
Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene police said.
The caused of the crash or the identity of the victim has yet to be determined
Police redirected traffic to the inner roadway, for several hours for the crash investigation.
