NJ Teacher Charged After Making Inappropriate Contact with High School Student

Authorities in Hudson County announced that on Friday, June 14, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested a University Academy Charter High School teacher after making inappropriate contact with a juvenile student.

Officials stated the crime occurred on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, during school hours.

Steven Gordon, 67, of Jersey City, is charged with Criminal Explicit Contact, a crime of the fourth degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a crime of the second degree, officials said. 

According to officials, he was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and released pending his first court appearance, which is tentatively scheduled for Friday, July 5, 2024.

Authorities say Gordon resigned from his position following the investigation. Prosecutor Suarez credited the Special Victims Unit with the investigation and arrest.
