NJ State Police Traffic Stop Results in Arrest of Man in Possession of AK-47 Rifle, Ammunition

The New Jersey State Police have arrested Mr. Johnathan Lorick, 33, of Lexington, S.C., and seized an AK-47 rifle and ammunition as the result of a traffic stop.

According to a statement released by NJ State Police officials on Saturday, August 17, at 2:41 a.m., troopers stopped Lorick for a traffic violation southbound on the New Jersey Turnpike at milepost 66.3 in East Windsor Township, Mercer County.

Official say during the stop, troopers discovered Lorick was under the influence and arrested him for DWI. After further investigation, Lorick was found to be in possession of a fully-loaded AK-47 rifle.

Johnathan Lorick was charged with certain persons not to have weapons, unlawful possession of weapons, resisting arrest, aggravated assault, prohibited weapons and devices, obstruction, disorderly conduct and DWI.

Lorick was lodged in Mercer County Jail pending a bail detention hearing.

Charges are mere accusations and the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty.
