An early morning single-car crash that occurred on an NJ highway has New Jersey State Police officials investgiating the cause.
Authorities confirmed fatal injuries for one of two occupants of a vehicle where the driver somehow lost control in the eastbound lanes of I-78 then slammed into a tree in Berkeley Heights.
The incident happened at approximately 5 a.m. near mile marker 43.2 where emergency responders arrived at the scene to find an unidentified person trapped in between the door and the frame of the severely damaged car.
Police closed all eastbound lanes on the highway for the crash investigation which remains active and ongoing.
