Troopers from the NJ State Police took a man into custody after the suspect led them on a pursuit that spanned several counties overnight.
According to preliminary reports, police officers attempted to pull over a blue Honda Accord wanted for criminal activity in Sayreville when the vehicle sped away from officers on the parkway at around 3:30 a.m.
The vehicle raced northbound up the Garden State Parkway reaching speeds of up to 90 miles per hours through Middlesex, Union, Essex, Passaic, and Bergen counties police said.
The vehicle reportedly lost a tire during the course of the pursuit but continued to speed from police on three wheels.
Authorities say the driver left the highway near exit 171 in Montvale where the car crashed in the vicinity of Chestnut Ridge Road in Upper Saddle River Road initiating a bailout and short foot pursuit.
Police swiftly apprehended the suspect with no injuries reported.
The incident remains under investigation.
