NJ Sharing Network Hosts Live Healthy & Move Event in Newark to Promote Minority Organ Donation

The NJ Sharing Network, a nonprofit organization dedicated to organ and tissue donation in New Jersey, invites the public to its upcoming Live Healthy & Move event.SupportThis free event, set for August 24, 2024, at Vailsburg Park in Newark, aims to promote health and wellness while highlighting the life-changing impact of organ and tissue donation.

Live Healthy & Move promises a full day of activities for families, focusing on physical and mental well-being. Attendees can take advantage of health screenings, participate in fitness activities, and learn healthy eating habits.

Information on local resources and organ and tissue donation will also be available. To add to the fun, the event will feature live music, performances, and a variety of activities for both kids and adults.

Local organizations, including Newark’s Department of Health and Community Wellness, the Greater Newark Health Care Coalition, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, and University Hospital, will be on hand to provide information and giveaways.

NJ Sharing Network will also support local students with a ‘Back-to-School Drive,’ distributing school supplies to K-12 students.

One of the event organizers, Newark resident E. Denise Peoples, Senior Community Services Manager at NJ Sharing Network, is a double-lung transplant recipient.

Peoples works year-round to coordinate Live Healthy & Move events and advocate for NJ Sharing Network’s mission across schools, faith-based organizations, and community groups.

She emphasized the importance of spreading awareness about the impact of organ and tissue donation.

“Live Healthy & Move is one way our team gives back and shows gratitude to our communities. It’s a wonderful opportunity for NJ Sharing Network’s staff, volunteers, and supporters to connect with residents across the state. We’re thrilled to bring this event to Newark with the support of our incredible community partners,” Peoples said.
