Officials in Burlington County have charged a 30-year-old Riverside Township man with possession of Explicit Images of Minors (CSAM).
Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw announced that Mr. Brandon Troughton, 30, faces charges of Endangering the Welfare of a Minor (Third Degree) for knowingly possessing images depicting the explicit exploitation of a minor.
Troughton was taken into custody at his residence in July and lodged in the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly.
He was released following a first appearance in Superior Court.
The case is now being prepared for presentation to a grand jury for possible indictment.
The investigation was initiated after the BCPO High-Tech Crimes Unit received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding Troughton’s online activities. Investigators discovered that Troughton had accessed and saved CSAM images on a personal electronic device.
The BCPO High-Tech Crimes Unit led the investigation, with assistance in executing a search warrant at Troughton’s residence from United States Homeland Security Investigations – Cherry Hill Office, and the Riverside Township Police Department.
The lead investigator is BCPO Detective Jillian Marin.
Troughton will be prosecuted by the BCPO Special Victims Unit.
All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
