NJ Man Sentenced to 20 years for Stabbing His Wife to Death in 2022

Authorities in Hudson County announced that on Friday, March 28, the Honorable Mitzy Galis-Menendez sentenced a 35-year-old man to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison for his role in the fatal stabbing of his wife in 2022.

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said that Peter Revelo, of Bayonne, previously pleaded guilty to one count of Aggravated Manslaughter.

The sentence is subject to the No Early Release Act, and 85% of the prison time must be served before becoming eligible for parole, HCPO officials say. 

The State was represented in this matter by Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Erica Bertuzzi.

According to Hudson County officials, on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at approximately 11:58 a.m., the Bayonne Police Department received a 911 call for service to 105 North Street.

Responding officers found a woman, later identified as Mely Vanessa Tafoya Mendoza, 33, of Bayonne, with an apparent stab wound to her torso, Hudson County authorities stated.

Hudson County officials say she was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 12:36 p.m.
